Database Restoration

I originally registered for a free account on BroadPhase before I upgraded. Interestingly, I had been using the database that came with the free account up till very recently. I suppose the time came for it to be deleted, and I lost some posts. Fortunately, I was able to recover my posts up till April from 5Gigs, and I entered the rest manually from the archives. So much for that.

In other news, there's the PyWeek competition, which started yesterday, Sunday. You have to code up a game using Python in a week. I was looking for a chance to really get my hands dirty with Python, which came, but unfortunately, I won't be able to successfully get an entry in by Saturday. I intend to start working fulltime on the GameDev.net 4E4 contest from September. I currently have some tasks that I need to complete, put aside, forget about them, before I can possibly get a finished game in!

I also saw Fantastic Four yesterday. It was, nothing, fascinating, to say the least. Just an ordinary movie with excessive CG and no special moments. You'd probably be better of renting it, or waiting for it to be shown on cable TV :P I intend to see The Island and Stealth today, nothing fancy, so I heard. Will find out about that. And just recently got ahold of 2 of my secondary school mates which I've been chatting with, both female *cough* Go figure.

Vector Linux 5.1, H2G2, more...

Three words: Slackware on steroids! And then some. The download of the ISO successfully completed, and I installed it, and over the past two days, I've been configuring and tweaking my Linux box to my taste, and it's quite perfect :) The major issue is Samba isn't working. And I still haven't been able to fix it yet... Oh, well.

I got two books today, which I need to get to read sometime: Learn to Program C#, and Advanced C# Programming. Not surprisingly, they're huge, too! Plus I finally got to see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! Oh, the hilarity! Although there were a lot of things that were very different from the book, it was still entertaining. I liked it :)
